Topslip - Pollution free heavenly land

Topslip is located at 800 feet (240 m) above sea level on the Anamalai mountain range. It is popularly known as Anamalai Hills. It is a small place in Indira Gandhi National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary that lies in the Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu at the southern part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Separated from the Nilgiri Hills by the Palghat Gap on the north, the Park is contiguous to the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary (Kerala) to its west and to the Eravikulam National Park (Kerala) and Chinnar Wild life sanctuary.

It stands majestically with Green Spread Mountains and forest all around. The unique teak forests and bamboo forest located near Topslip adds beauty to the place.

The Sanctuary is highly diverse in its topography, altitude, rainfall, climate and temperature. Therefore, it naturally supports a wide variety of flora and fauna including several rare, endemic and endangered species of plants and animals. Diversity of landscape and its components enchants one and all alike be he a tourist, a trekker, an anthropologist, a wildlifer or a naturalist.

 Route to Topslip

Topslip is about 37 km from Pollachi, the nearest town. It will take about 1 Hour journey on road from Pollachi to Topslip.

Buses are available regularly between pollachi and topslip. Buses are avilable from 6am to 3pm.

Indra Gandhi wildlife sanctuary

Indra Gandhi wildlife sanctuary (formerly called Anamalai wildlife sanctuary), widely known as Top Slip is located at about 37 km from Pollachi town.

It is Separated from the Nilgiri Hills by the Palghat Gap on the north, Parambikulam wildlife sanctuary (Kerala) to its west and to the Eravikulam National Park (Kerala) and Chinnar wildlife sanctuary to its south.

There are many places of natural and scenic beauty in the Anamalai wildlife sanctuary. Some of them are Grass hills, Karianshola, Anaikunthi Shola, groves, waterfalls, teak forests, reservoirs and dams.

There are arrangements of exploring the sanctuary on elephant back or by van. If you plan to walk in the park, you must have a park guide with you and you are allowed to walk in the park for a maximum of four hours for INR 70 per person.

If you are visiting the park for the day, you can go directly to Top Slip. The Sethumadai checkpost is the entry point to Top Slip. But if you plan to stay at Top Slip, please book accomodation in advance by confirming and sending a DD to The Wildlife Warden Office, 178 Meenkarai Road, Pollachi.

Parambikulam wild life sanctuary 

Parambikulam sanctuary is one of the Kerala’s premier wildlife reserves of 285 km² stretch forest. It is a thickly forest with bamboo, rosewood, teak & sandal woods.  Parambikulam is the remains of original teak forest, it very famous the Asia largest for kannamari teak tree.

And Parambikulam is well known for India’s most prominent mammals and animals like tiger, wild dogs, leopards, elephants, spotted deer, sloth bear, wild boar, barking deer, langurs, macaques, etc., It is also famous for birds migration like civet, chevrotain, pangolin, crocodile, jungle cat, porcupine and 140 different kind birds are found in the sanctuary.

Parambikulam dam is of 3.5 kms from Parambikulam wild life sanctuary. Parambikulam dam is located in Palakkad district, it is the one of the biggest dam in india of capacity 69,165 (Cu. Mt x1000) and it is world larges volume embankment dams.

Parambikulam is famous for south India's finest stands of teak. The famous kannimari teak tree, the largest in Asia as most of these have now been replaced by teak plantations.

Tree-House in the reserved forest area at Thoonakkadavu stay will be very nice and it should be booked in advance for stay.
